A Closer Look
Sofia E Garcia (she/they) is a director and actor originally from the Orlando area.
They graduated in 2020 from Stephens College with a BFA in acting. While in their final years of school, Sofia fell in love with directing. They debuted as a director with The Amish Project at the Warehouse Theatre Company and have been drawn to the craft ever since. Over the pandemic, they participated in a handful of projects and intensives that kept them active. Most notable was a week-long directing intensive with the Kennedy Center that helped them fine-tune their visions and focus. They have a growing interest in film and television.
Sofia always grew up in a creative, encouraging learning environment with her mother as a teacher. She believes in the power of collaboration and the importance of a keeping the rehearsal space open for growth. To her, everything is seen as an opportunity to learn. In this way, she is a life-long student of the world.
2026 marks Sofia's 5th year living in New York, one of the defining moments of their life. They have found community like no other in the city, which has led them in many different directions. Karaoke, film photography, museum and movie theater visits make Sofia's life full. Her friends, family, and cat Theo are her pride.
